Exterior insulation throughout Belgium

Facade Insulation

After the roof, the walls are the second-largest surface through which your home loses heat. Insulating them from the outside is like wrapping the building in a continuous layer of insulation, without affecting the interior or losing a single centimeter of living space.

SDC Ecogroup provides exterior wall insulation throughout Belgium.

Our Approach

Exterior Wall Insulation: How It Works

The principle is simple. Insulation panels are attached to the exterior of the walls and then covered with a finish that protects them from the elements. The building is completely enveloped, which eliminates thermal bridges at floor junctions and corners—the areas where heat escapes the most.

Plaster finish

The insulation is covered with a finishing coat in the color of your choice. This is the most unobtrusive solution—the one that most closely resembles a traditional facade—and it blends well into a residential setting.

Cladding finish

A cladding system—in the form of boards or panels—is installed over the insulation. This results in a more noticeable change in appearance and provides an opportunity to give an aging building a fresh new look.

Things to Check Beforehand

Exterior insulation changes the appearance of the facade, and most Belgian municipalities require prior authorization. You must also take into account roof overhangs, window sills, downspouts, and the added thickness of the window frames. These points are reviewed during the technical inspection.

Why Insulate from the Outside?

The Benefits of an Insulated Facade

No loss of floor space

Everything happens outside. Your rooms retain exactly the same volume, and your interior is never affected.

Thermal bridges eliminated

The envelope is continuous, with no breaks at the floors or corners. That’s where exterior insulation makes all the difference.

You're staying home

The work is being done outdoors. No need to clear out any rooms, no furniture to move, and no dust in the home.

A facade that looks brand-new

Insulation is accompanied by a new finish. The building becomes more energy-efficient and gets a new look—all as part of the same construction project.

Questions and Answers

Your Questions About Exterior Wall Insulation

In most cases, yes, because the building’s exterior appearance is altered. The rules vary from one municipality to another, and even more so in protected areas. We address this issue during the site inspection.

From the outside, if you can change the appearance of the facade, this is the most effective and least intrusive solution. From the inside, if the facade must remain as is, for regulatory or aesthetic reasons.

It depends on the surface area to be treated, the finish you choose, and the weather conditions. We will provide you with the estimated timeframe in the quote.

It is technically possible—for example, on a particularly exposed gable—but the continuity of the building envelope is precisely what makes this method effective. We’ll discuss this during the tour.
